Radiator fan 850

Greetings,
When my wife got home today and shut off the car, the radiator fan continued to run. This just started happening today. I am aware that the fan is designed to run with the engine off, but it is cool outside, and our car has never done this, even in very hot weather.
She also told me, when stopped at a red light, upon acceleration, the engine would 'stumble' but then do all right. the engine stumble thing is not all the time. I just took it out for a test, and it did fine for me. The fan thing did happen. When I turned off the car, the fan went off, and then after about 20 seconds, it started. I noticed when I test drove it, there was a louder sound, like the fan is running too fast. The fan does shut off after 2 or 3 minutes.

Any ideas?
