2000 S40 - Changing a Headlight Bulb S40-V40 2000

Harold...its pretty simple, but it helps if you have smaller, thinner hands, especially on the battery side. First you have to pull off most of the rubber cap and kind of fold it down and off to one sid. No tools are needed! You will see two metal spring wire (thingys).....squeeze them together and they pull/swing out of the way. Pull out the bulb clip w/connecting wires and the bulb and PLEASE NOTE THE POSITION OF THE BULB BASE AS YOU PULL IT OUT!!!!! THE NEW BULB CAN ONLY FIT IN...IF ITS RIGHT SIDE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You'll see what I mean when you see the bulb....before you remove the clip. Also don.t touch the bulbs w/your fingers....skin oil on the bulb is a no no! If you haven't done so already...go to your local Volvo dealer...there is a Service bulletin for '00 and beyond to fix all the burning out light bulbs. Its a free fix, they basically put a reostat in your bulb wireing(something like that)and it lowers your voltage to you bulbs a fraction.....much longer bulb life. Hope this helps, Bill
