Can't clear code 850 1993

After 250k miles I've have 2 times that I can recall that the computer needed clearing for codes I couldn't clear (ABS light & AC control lights blinking).

Very complicated procedure to clear all codes follows:

1 - have your radio code ready
2 - disconnect battery
3 - wait (I waited about an hour)
4 - reconnect battery

If your problems repeat then you need some one smarter then me - (not hard to find). But I might look for a ground wire going bad if the computer lights still glowing when it shouldn't.
