Handles on radio S70 1998

We tried pulling the radio out on my car to replace the light bulbs, but now we can't get those little handles to go back in. Is there a trick to it? I've pushed them all the way in thinking there's a "catch" but no such luck.

We gave up on the bulbs because the cd played decided to die...
