instrument cluster V70-XC70 1998

Had that happen with a VW. It means that the instrument cluster died OR it means that the wiring TO the instrument cluster is fried. If like VW, you can't buy the gauges separately, you must buy the whole cluster and have installed. Or you can check the speed sensor, which could be the problem too. Are the lights off to that part of the cluster? If so, I'd strongly suspect it's the instrument cluster that died. Big Bummer as it's probably not cheap AND it will only show an odometer reading of 0 when you put in the new one. Which can prove problematic when you go to sell if you don't have a mechanic document and sign off on the current ODOM reading for you, and you keep receipts for the inst. cluster/replacement. Meaning, a big pain in the butt.
