Anti-Squeal Compond Application for brake pads S70

My Volvo has been driving me nuts with squealing brakes...I understand and have seen numerous posts about how common this is when using non-Volvo pads.

Well I bit the bullet and bought a new Volvo pads/shims and new Zimmerman rotors. I also purchased CRC-Anti-squeal compound just to be absolutely sure that I leave nothing to chance after this brake job.

Question - Does the Anti-squeal compound go on both sides of the shims (ie facing the pad and facing the caliper) or should it just go on one side? Any issues if I put it on both sides as an extra anti-squeal precaution?

Thanks
