revs drop while driving@same speeds V70-XC70 2002

Hello all,
This is what I experience with my wagon (2.4L non-turbo): while city driving at about 60km/h (40m/h) engine is pulling nice at say 1500-1600 rpm, and then very often revs drop to 1300-1400 (still in the same gear), no hills, no downhills, same road conditions....engine is still pulling, but you can feel that it is 'sweating and suffering'.....sort of like driving a manual car in a 4th gear and shifting prematurely to a 5th , revs drop, pull of the car drops.
Similar situation, but maybe not so noticeable, occurs at higher speeds. Car has 47k km. Any similar experinces ?
Best Regards
Greg
