Engine timing

I could find the position of the crankshaft locking tool thanks to some helpful people. It is located right next the starter motor which need to be removed for clear access. However after removal of the metal plug I still can't put the Volvo tool 999 5451 in the hole because the hole is too tight because of the thread. I tried several time and there is no way to get that tool inside the hole :(

Does anybody know if there are different types of crankshaft locking tool nr 999 5451 with different diameters??? What made I wrong? My tool has nr 999 5451 21 but VADIS only ask for 999 5451................

Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks
