So I'm looking for a replacement Volvo... 850 1995

I have a 854 turbo- I dont know what sort of difference it makes, but this is my input:

I just hit 100k and spent about $2000. I feel like I am being nickle and dimed- hopefully this will be it for a while.

Repairs included:
struts
shocks
ball joints
wheel bearings

See if this stuff has been worked on. I would expect that if they have not been replaced, you will have to do shocks and struts. I would also anticipate the ball joint replacement (its actually the entire control arm that is replaced).

You have to watch out for the other things that you mentioned too. The ABS problem is related to an algorithm issue and may not show itself by just engaging ABS. If the ABS unit has been replaced then problem is fixed.

Smell the tranny fluid and check the color. Dark brown and smells like furniture varnish it's bad news. Red and has no smell, you are in good shape.

I would characterize the car as fun, comfortable, and NOT CHEAP to own.
