If you had the intake hose off go back and check the vacumn elbow on the device (resistor?) near the lower bend. I don't know what it's called but the crank breather hose and a hard plastic vacumn line connect to it along with the electrical connector.
My idle started to fluctuate and the CEL lit. I pulled a couple of codes relating to evap system and idle air mixture (scroll down to my post for specifics). I also heard a strange hiss when I opened the door.
Anyway, the rubber elbow connecting the hard plastic tube to this nipple in the intake hose had rotted through and collapsed. I replaced it with a generic nipple from Autozone and haven't had the problem come back. Rock solid idle, no CEL.
Also, if your elbow is ok, check the small plastic tube back up in it's protective sheath. They are very fragile and I did break mine off while getting everything out. I ended up using a 2" section of vacumn hose as a splice.
One more thing. Again, I don't know the proper name for the component the breather hose connects to in the intake hose, but the nipple that the vacumn elbow connects to was clogged solid with old carbon. This may have led to the elbow collapsing. Using a piece of wire and carb cleaner I cleared the hole out before reassembing everything. I swear the car runs better!
