Wiring quality on 96 850 GLT 850

I was replacing my headlight blubs the other day and noticed that the wiring on the passenger side hi beam was brittle and cracked. There is actually one piece of insulation missing which exposed the wire. I know Volvo had a problem with wiring insulation in the mid 80's, but thought it was corrected by the early 90's. Is there a problem with the insulation on 850's as well. or is this just a isolated case????

Thank you in advance
Oliver
