Engine oil--if you want 5W-40 synthetic, AMSOIL just released one:
European car formula oil, designed for the extended drain intervals established by European auto manufacturers.

Tranny fluid-- I'd use a good synthetic, such as AMSOIL or Mobil 1 ATF. If you do the flush, then you can change what is in the pan about evry 50K and be fine.
If you use non-synthetic, plan to change what is in the pan about every 15K.
