T6 Newbie Question..... comments welcome S80 2004

Hi all, I'm a newbie here =) Got few quick questions regarding the '04 T6. Thanks in advance for any comments.

I'm really interested in getting a S80 T6 but kindda scared by the cost of maintaince. I never owned a car with turbo(s). Compare with a 2.9, will it cost a lot more to keep the T6 happy?

A friend told me that turbo cars "NEED" synthetic oil. Is this true for T6? Is there anything I should be aware of before getting a turbo car?
