TRANSMISSION/ Is it Daewoo? S70 1998

I don't know if there is any common usage with Daewoo, but many car companies buy transmissions from separate suppliers (Rolls Royce used GM, for instance)The '98 transmissions are not particularly trouble prone. Actually, I think that only the '93 850 transmission was viewed as troublesome. The one big thing is to have the fluid flushed on a very regular basis, perhaps every 20k. Our '98 began to go in and out of the torque convertor lock-up very harshly at around 35k. Very irritating in mopuntain driving int eh 45-55 MPH range when itr would be in and out all the time. Would have to press gas firmly to downshift for even mild upgrades, and then jolted on downslope when locked up again. Dealer said, as usual, "that's normal". Of course, it cdidn't happen earlier, but they can never seem to explain why it is still normal. In any event, we finally found a more knowledgeable dealer just before the warranty expired, who siad no problem, a flush will fix it. Despite my serious reservations, they did flush it, and it absolutely cured it (30k ago). It now gets flushed every 20k, per advice of my very knowledgeable independant mechanic.
