NC State Inspection caused Emissions message to appear??? S80

I replaced the Throttle unit with a used unit, 30K miles and very clean. Drove for 3 days with no errors. Took the car for the annual inspection and passed. The next day the "Emission Service required" message comes back. I wondered if the inspection, (they plug into your system to check for errors) could cause the message. I disconnected the battery for a few minutes. Now (6) days later all is good, no messages. Could this have been the North Carolina Inspection causing some temporary glitch?

thanks.
