Rough Idle Solution Possibility 850

Hi all ---

I have read many posts about rough idle on the 850. I recently had the rear main seal replaced by a local Ind. Tech. The seal job was wonderful, and the engine was re-installed perfectly. However, I had a pronounced rough idle after getting the car back. Before taking it back, I checked out all the vacuum hoses and fittings. All looked good. The car still had a bad idle. Cleaned out IAC motor. Still rough. Tried new tank of gas. Still rough. Finally took it back to the ind. tech., he opened the hood and ran through all the hoses. Ends up that two hoses going to the solenoid that sits on top of the radiator were reversed. Idles silky smooth now. Lesson I learned is that before replacing hoses and the like, MAKE SURE all vacuum hoses are routed to their proper destination. A purple and two yellow lines go to the solenoids on top of the radiator. The tech explained to me that if the light yellow and dark yellow hoses are reversed, you'll get a rough idle. I think it was the light yellow/white hose on the bottom and dark yellow on top. Pehaps this will help someone. Good luck!
