bad transmission 850

The '93 had high failure rate, although I haven't heard of problems with the replacement ones.

I got my '93 at 126k miles from a dealer who picked it up at auction with a bad tranny. He did the repair and I've had it for another 140k+ miles so far without problems. In other words once the tranny has been replaced/repaired I wouldn't worry.

Now is it worth it? You can probably find good condiction '93s for about $3500. So if you can get the tranny fixed for about $2000 (not likely!) you are in the ballpark with a tranny that you can be pretty sure will last. So depending on the condiction of the rest of the car it comes down to what the fix costs.

How is the rest of the cars - A/C is another weak point of the '93 850 (although mine has been good) - if it isn't cold you could be spending another $800 for that fix!
