SC-810 Radio Add AMP , wiring?? 850 1994

Greetings,
considering adding amp to exist radio factory volvo radio.
I ve seen th DIN plug in back of radio for amp connection , my question is, for after market amp , is this an output that goes to the amp and i must then run wires and cut in to the speakers --rear being 2 speakers each in parallel each side and front being the 2 door speakers and leave the dash speakers connected to the radio?? OR is the DIN plug on the factory radio an input which takes the powered spkr outputs from the amp and feeds it through the radio??? , I suspect not but couldny locate a diagram,
