V70 purchase V70-XC70 1998

I have a base model V70 with Leather, Alloys and 5 speed. I had to replace the steering rack at 95 Km. Other than that it is regular maiantainance only. I now have 137 Km on vehicle and have done nothing other than oil change, spark plugs, tires and wiper blades in the last eighteen months.

Popular wisdom is to avoid the AWD. If not running on evenly worn tires all around 100% of time you will have trouble. Yes 100% of the time. If prior owner ran one or two unevenly worn tires for for a mere week, you will have problems with the bevel gears ($$$$). You cannot afford to take the chance unless you are getting such a good deal that you can afford to take the chance.

There have been a few problems with the auto tranny so better to go five speed (if you can find one and don't mind the standard).

No particular problems with the Turbo and the added pep is likely worthwhile.

Other than that, usual used cars stuff like a known history always better than no history on vehicle.
