I'm a RWD Volvo driver, but have worked on and driven quite a few FWD Volvos (I worked for my independent Volvo mechanic last summer). So, I know a bit about them, but not as well as the 740/940s. Anyway, a friend is in the process of recieving his dad's '98 V70 non-turbo that they've had since new. His dad is just waiting for his new V70 AWD to arrive. My friend mentioned the yesterday about the '98 not having enough punch for him and that got me thinking. The car has about 250K km (~155K mi) on it and has been well maintained. It's an auto. I couldn't really think of a safe and fairly easy way to tap a little more power out of that engine, but I though someone here might have a suggestion that I hadn't thought of. I certainly wouldn't want to push the engine too hard due to it's mileage, but I thought there might be a little trick that I may not have considered for getting a little more power. Maybe a mod to the exhaust system (I can't remember if it has 2 mufflers or one) or something like that? Anyway, thanks for any ideas or any posts telling me to leave it alone. lol :)
