Service Engine Light 850 1996

Mike,

Maybe your 850 is different than mine, but on my 96 there is only 1 plug (screw cover) and 7 screws to remove to get the instument cluster out. The first time I removed it, the whole process took about 1 hour to remove - repair - reinstall. The last time I removed it, I think I had the whole process done in about twenty five minutes. The cluster itself has only two wiring harness connectors, and two clamps holding it in. The dash pad does have to lift 5-6" to get the cluster out, but mine did not give me any real problems. I just followed the detailed instructions from Bay 13.

Your experience may be different than mine, but I would still do the bulb replacement myself before I paid a mechanic $90 to do the job!!!!!! The bulbs cost about a buck each at the dealer.

Oliver
