98 V70R common issues? V70-XC70

I just test drove a saffron V70R automatic with 128,000km's. The car appears to be in generally good condition but I'm wondering if there are any issues I should look out for specific to the R model. I noticed the upper engine mount is cracked (typical) and the plastic hose of the air pump had melted at the flex joint. Any ideas what could cause this to melt?

From what I've read on this board about the '98s, the evaporator likely needs to be replaced (I didn't test the AC), the ABS/TRACS computer is likely on it's way out (no warning lights yet), and the viscous coupler for the AWD might give trouble. Is there any way to know if the coupler is starting to fail? Is there anything else I should inspect?

Thanks in advance!
