rear shock absorbers - any recommended brand? 850

On my 850 wagon (1995) one rear shock is broken and the other surely worn (110K miles). Several mfrs. such as Monroe, Gabriel, Koni offer replacements and I am sure the dealers have the original type (I understand those are from Sachs).

Has anyone had experience to recommend a particular brand or type of shock? Given a choice I would usually go for a firmer ride as long as it is not choppy.

Many thanks,

ksg
