Strange behavior 850 1996

Yep, you are having a charging problem. Nope, you shouldn't be driving it for extended periods of time. If you do need to drive it somewhere, do so with absolutely everything that is not necessary for the drive "from point a to point b". Check your battery connections first and foremost...known far and wide to cause significant grief. If they are nasty, clean them off...baking soda, coca cola, your choice, clean the connectors, clean the terminals, secure tightly. Also...a loose ignition switch will cause this problem, can you turn your key counter clockwise and clockwise 1/2 inch or so with it doing nothing...it's loose. Other than that...it's alternator time. Sorry!
