1999 V70xc misfires at high speeds. V70-XC70 1999

My 1999 Volvo V70xc misfires at between 110 - 120km/hr on a consistent basis. As far as I know it is only when it is warmed up. I had a similar problem on my 1990 740wgn and eventually the coil died. My dilemma is that I'm just 1000km inside my extended warranty and the dealer will not change it unless it dies completely.
