I didn't realise Alpine now did a dual-mode model...I guess the best thing might be to find a local dealer...they could then hook it up with the adapter cable and see if it actually works before you buy it. They might want you to stand the cost of getting in the adapter cable though.

The Alpine website does say the adapter cable makes it M-bus compatible, so you should have some sort of Sale of Goods Rights as 'fit for purpose' depending which country you are in.
