Fuel Floater 850

Last week the fuel gauge started acting up. It would go up and down. Then the fuel warning light came on as if there was not any gas in the car, I knew there should have been gas in the car. When I took it in, they replaced the fuel floater in the gas tank. Now I only put $10 in on an empty tank and the gas pump stops pumping like it is full. The gauge barely registers any gas. Does something need to be reset?? Before I take it back to the shop I would like to have some ideas of what it could be.
