Sidemarker lights on 850 question 850 1994

I have my sidemarker lights connected to the running lights right now and would like to change them so that they blink when I turn my blinker on. I was wondering if this is very hard? I'm not into working on cars and I was wondering if someone could post some really detailed instructions so that I may be able to do this. I just noticed it looked like they are getting to warm and starting to melt the plastic cover. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
