Blinking Winter Mode Arrow? 850

This is so strange, I was moving the gear lever from L to 3 to D and then the orange arrow on the dash starts to blink and I tried to go forward and it's stuck in 3rd gear like winter mode! The Sport/Econ lights where blinking too, I pushed the winter button on and off and the Sport/Econ back and forth, but nothing. So I turned of the engine and waited 10 minutes, restarted the engine and it's gone. I repeated the L to 3 to D out of curiousity and it happens again. Turned off motor and waited 10 mins again and it's gone. This has never happened before. Is it a faulty sensor or something else?
