Hi,
I have a 1994 850 wagon, 225k miles on it. It looks like new, but under the hood is not looking so pretty lately. The past few months I have spent hundreds, maybe thousands (trying not to think about it) on it. I still owe a laon balance of $2000 on it and I have no cash to buy another car unless I sell this for at least enough to pay off the remaining loan and buy the new car. I have to renew the registration on it by June 1 and it did not pass smog, needs EGR service and engine light replaced to pass (so can't let these things go long - I shelled out $70 for the smog check thinking it would pass with flying colors!).
Here's what I have had done in the past few months:
- PNP switch
- rear main seals
- timing belt
- O2 sensor
- new tires
- RL wheel bearing & suspension something-or-other
- radiator replaced (today - emrgency)
The remaining problems I know of:
- seeping oil from pretty much every seal & gasket
- EGR no flow (vaccuum problem? value itself? I don't know)
- engine check light bulb out
So my first thought when the rad blew today was "that's it!!" I am selling this thing and buying an old 240 or something old and cheap but easy to fix! However now that I have sunk so much money in I am afraid to buy someone else's old heap. Plus I would have to fix these problems in order to sell it anyway!
Any advice (short of buying a newer car that I can't afford?)
-Tina
