spare tire well flooded 850 1993

I got a flat on my way home from work on Friday. When i was reaching for the spare tire I noticed a significant puddle of water in the spare tire well. Any ideas of where the water could have come from? Nothing above the spare tire well is wet, and nothing above the spare tire well shows signs of ever being wet
