Flame trap question 850

Just replaced the flame trap on the 96 850 GLT. On a scale of 1 - 10 about about a 3, so not too bad. During the installation I noticed a few things that I would like some feed back on from the board.

1. The old trap was quite discolored, but looked free and open. There was quite a bit of oil in the flame trap housing, and I was not expecting to see that much oil. Is this normal?

2. While changing the flame trap, the flame trap housing disconnected from the tube under the intake. Found it to be quite a challenge to get it back on securely. The tube is rather flexible. Anyone have a secret for changing the flame trap so this does not happen?

Also replaced the pollen filter. Amazing how dirty a filter can get. Just think all that could be headed for the evaporator$$$$$$$
