440 radio code problem

hello,
need help with radio code problem on a 440, the radio is a vc-602. i think its been recoded as it wont take the code off qw-90 and the code from volvo database (using serial,part,and model numbers) is not working either. at the moment the radio is locked out.
i know i can remove it and get it recoded again but im told there is a secret way you can get into these radios without a code and then disable the security code feature altogether. aparently its done by holding down a comination of buttons while turning the unit on,does anyone know about his or heard of it before?
