VIN decoding for 850 850 1997

I have the info you need but I will need a better description of where you are finding the 56 you speak of according to my book the only reference to 56 in the vin is the 6th and 7th digits and they denote a B5254t engine was originally installed in the car.other than that the only other place they show the trans type is on the case of the trans on left lower portion, that is unless your car is not a us or canadian version in which case it will be in the ninth position of the vin and will be a single digit either a 3 or8 ,but it is not relevant for north american models. good luck!!!!
