Noise in dash V70-XC70 1999

I never really looked closely at the dash support attachments, as they did it under warranty. I do not think they are visible from the glove box area. But, what happens is the dash starts pulling away from the body (at the base of the windshield). The gap between the dash and body gets bigger. I believe you can see the offending broken attachments at that location(s).

A friend of mine repaired it himself without replacing the dash (on his 850). He removed the dash, then attached his own metal attachments to the dash for securing the dash to the body. The dash has only plastic attachments. Did take him a whole weekend. If that does turn out to be your problem, I can have my friend post on how he did the work.
