Remember, v.few people will be here saying "Hey, everything works perfect - thought you oughtta know". This is a troubleshooting/help board as much as anything. If you look at the consumer ratings for Volvo they're actually rather good. My transmission just got replaced :( but it had 108K on it when it went. Good news for you/us? It had never been serviced and had NEVER given me a problem other than the occasional hard shift. If you change your oil every 5000 miles, imagine going 20,000 miles without changing it. If you think you can go 15K on an oil change, put it up to 60,000 miles! That's the equivalent from the service suggestions I've been given. In other words, the trans went FOUR TIMES longer than it should have with NO SERVICE at all.
That's just abusive. I discovered this little problem after I bought the car. Really sucked but now it's smooth.
The engine runs like it has 5K on it, not 110K. Compression's good across all 5, corners+handles fantastic, accelleration is very good for a naturally-aspirated wagon, and braking is world-class. The car is exceptional in the area of comfort, for short trips and long rides. I'm pretty heavy at 280 so I take my comfort seriously. I fully expect to have this car until 220K on the clock or so, then I'll get something else.
