is it the calipers or master cylinder or braker booster or just pads ?? 850 1995

on my 95 850 turbo..after driving a while the brakes start screeching..like metal on metal. The brake pedal seems a little soft after braking for a while and it seems it longer for me to stop ..in the rain it seems to be even worse. i am giving my self more distance to stop. I have after market pad in the front and i was told by mechanic that the pads are not sitting properly as original pads..

my concern is how do i check if calipers are bad or brake booster or master cylinder is bad..i bought original volvo pads for the front and would like to replace them and solve the problem but i think the calipers might be sticking ..

can someone tell me how to check the calipers and master cylinder are still good since they are the expensive items to replace ...
