Ouch!!!!!It happened so fast. The other day, a Chevy Suburban hit the back of my 1994 850 sedan at about 35mph while I was stopped in traffic and pushed me into the back of a small pickup truck. Surprisingly, the Suburban hit me perfectly square in the rear and only put small stress cracks in the top of the rear bumper cover with no damage under the cover to the metal bumper support. The front wasn't as lucky. The front was eaten up by the rear of the pickup. I have to have replaced the hood, grille, both headlights (single bulb version), both turn signal lens units, bumper cover (the metal bumper support underneath is OK), both headlight wipers and their motor units and the a/c condenser. My question is, my model is an original Canadian model with everything being metric including the instrument cluster and is a very clean 63,000 mile (102,000 kilometer) beauty of a car. I have never seen front and rear bumpers like mine that have the dark gray bumper strip that wraps around th front of the bumpers. All the others I've seen, I'm guessing because they are US models, have the dark gray on the top of the bumper cover and wraps around and also the front air dam is smoother looking, not as angular as mine is. Can I use the US version bumper on my car even though it uses the single bulb headlights which seem to slightly taller that the dual bulb headlights? The car goes into the shop on Monday. Also, I'm not going to have the headlight wipers replaced to give the front a sleeker look if I can go with the US version bumper. I will replace the rear bumper cover with the matching US version unit also.
