THinking of moving up to 2001 Volvo S40 850

Hi all,

AFter numberous repairs recently on my 1994 850 with 225,000 miles on it I am thinking of trading it in for a 2001 Volvo S40 going for $11K. That's the most I have ever spent on a car and since I still owe $2000 on the 850 I am afraid of spending this much.

Recent repairs to my 850: all replaced with new parts: timing belt, radiator, fuel pump, O2 sensor, PNP, brand new tires.

I'd like to know what people think of the 2001 Volvo S40 versus the 1994 850 as far as reliability, repair costs etc. Of course it has far fewer miles on it and would be a newer car, but would it be worth so much more money to me as a person on a budget.
