Peeling roof strips on older 850s 850

I know you can get 'em for $250 new, but I took a sharp penknife to all the old (paint?), got that off, cleaned the aluminum w/ fantastik, and re-painted them by hand with a 1/2 pint of black matte Rustoleum. Took 2 hours, they look soo much better. I know some of you take 'em off and spray paint 'em, but I'm sure I would have screwed that up somehow...
Give it a try...use a nice small paint bruch like a Sable like you find at Art shops...$2.50 if that...
