nebulous noise (from the middle?) 850

This may be kind of hard to describe, but I thought if someone else has had this problem they might know what I am talking about. My 95 850 wagon started making a sort of creaking or growling noise when I turn left sometimes. I would assume it is the CV joint except it seems to come from further back on the passenger's side and it doesn't seem to vary with speed. I'm not sure what else it could be, might some suspension component carry the vibration of the CV back towards the middle of the car, or is there another explanation?
