Self Level Suspension Questions 850

As I understand it the suspension on the 850 has rear self levelling shocks on it as standard. Maybe this is a dum question, but I was wondering are the front shocks also self levelling or is self level it only required on the rear of the car? (Raises lots of interesting questions as to how these shocks actually work?)

Anyway, could someone please help clarify what my options are for shock replacement. I have no plans to tow a trailer and do not plan to carry too much in the back of my wagon so can I replace with normal shocks and save a pile of money..

Thanks for any help /advice on this subject.
