V70 or 850? Turbo or not? AWD or not? V70-XC70

My wife wants a volvo wagon for some reason, so i've been looking. I can't afford the 99 or newer V70, so I am considering a 98 V70 or 95-97 850. What are the best years? is turbo reliable? is V70 AWD reliable? I'v heard about more issues with 98 V70 than newer, is this true?
