S70 Gear Shiftin S70 2000

I recently purchased my first Volvo, a 2000 S70 GLT. When I accelerate fast it seems to shift hard (or at least harder than I am used to in other vehicles). On the highway when downshifting it is noticeable and when accelerating quickly it feels like the transisiton is not as smooth as it feels at other times. I had the mechanic at the dealership test drive it with me and he said it was Ok but I am still skeptical. He said it was normal. It just seems to have a hard transition and it seems to center around 3rd gear. Am I a little to sensitive or could I be on the verge of a problem? Anyone else have a similar experience?
