New motor? 850 1993

the engine was replaced with new plugs, seals, fluids etc, why I think something may have gotten fouled up as soon as i started driving (like on the expressway). Alright I'll check the vac stuff, but you think that would cause the check engine light to come on? The vac tower is right next to the idle, which i haven't had a chance to get into. Cruise control doesn't work (didn't work w/ old engine) but thats not important (other than vac stuff). Anything else you could think of like oxygen sensor? I have a 6mnth warranty on all parts so if its a bad part I can get it replaced. Also I've read on the boards here about the "polish tuneup" and dropping the tranny into L and redlining which can help blow out stuff out of the cylinder (since i dont know how long the engine sat for)

thanks,

erik
