850 mirror remote 850

One mirror remote control works only in 3 directions instead of 4. I removed the switch but cannot open it up, so just sprayed the pins & plug in harness connector with contact cleaner - no change!
Does this mean I spilt too much coffee on the switch (good location for a cup holder is'nt it) or is there a little motor or something likely to be burnt out in the mirror assembly.
