newbie question S60

I'm looking for a used S60 and wondered how much more people like the Geartrag auot/manual tranny found in the T5 vs. the regular automatic. How many use it to row through gears? On other cars I haven't found much use for these kinds of boxes, but the turbo (2.5T) seems to need to get a little revved up before it feels strong.
