Check Engine Code P0123 850 1997

Update and question on the code I got:

P0123 is the code I got, and the Car Chip readout was saying that it was the throttle position sensor... however after reading through the Haynes manual a couple of times I noticed 1-2-3 was the code for "coolant temperature sensor fault". Could the Davis Car Chip be telling me incorrect message about the TPS or should I just go ahead and change both?

Would a faulty temp sensor cause my car to rev up? It certainly was reading incorrectlly...
