Replacement gear costs about $25 plus shipping from the site mentioned in other post. Also as mentioned you will have to remove instrument cluster and then disassemble it to get to gear drive which has stripped gear...a rather common problem for older Volvos. Go to Bay 13 on the net....lots of good info about Volvo repairs including how to get instrument cluster out.
