no spark 850 1996

Thanks VOBD tried to test the cam sensor by jumpering across the connector. a wire across the bat.(12vdc) socket and a wire across the signal wire socket(6vdc). Put meter across the ground connectors at socket hoping to see a 6v pulse when cranked (ign.on) by trusty assistant. Saw a steady 6v to gnd. just like on the crank sensor. I'm missing something. Mitchell on demand is talking about Hz values. thats frequency. does the frequency fluctuate and the voltage remain constant? anyway I dont have an occiliscope handy. Only a Volvo obd tool will provide fails on crank and cam sensors .Don't have one of those either.
